Marcela Vichrová – I went to the butcher shop

For Marcela Vichrová, the basic and dominant element of a painting is the colored line. It is not merely an interface between surfaces or an outline; it possesses thickness, tension, and almost haptic qualities. In the alternation of bright colors, its curves repeat and return, one following another. The resulting structures resemble embroidery, quartz layers in agate, graphic matrices, or maps. Each trace is “its own,” and even if it deviates slightly, it does not lose its firm connection to the whole, which often ends up closer to a distinctive variant of a symbol than to the true likeness of an animal, person, or object.
