Bratislava City Gallery

Bratislava City Gallery was established in 1961 as an independent cultural organisation under jurisdiction of the capital city of the Slovak Republic. Its core mission is purposefully and systematically to collect, professionally process, protect, and document items from the field of visual arts, and to make them publicly available in the form of temporary and permanent exhibitions, scientific research, educational activities, and publishing. The gallery is methodically building its collection as part of the cultural heritage of the city of Bratislava. It currently cares for more than 35,000 collection items, documenting the development of fine art in Slovakia from the Gothic period to the present day. The collection further includes a set of works by Central European Old Masters.
