Tono Stano / Exhibition in Brussels

The exhibition in Brussels presents a concentrated selection from the work of the now legendary photographer Tono Stano, which was created based on a large retrospective at the GHMP and its reprise at Danubiana. It is not a cross-section in the classic sense, but a carefully composed “essence” – a collection of works that clearly show the author's way of thinking or approach to photography.

Stano has long worked with staged photography. Each resulting shot is the result of a carefully prepared situation where the body functions as a basic building and expressive medium, de facto a “sculptural” material. The selection includes iconic shots and key cycles (including those from the Karlovy Vary Film Festival) and shows the breadth of his work – from studio compositions through outdoor realizations to experimental positions.
