YOU ARE YOURSELF A SEQUOIA. GREENHOUSE EXHIBITION WITH CAMILLA BERNER

In the spring of 2026, Camilla Berner will take over the Greenhouse in Ordrupgaard's Art Park with a site-specific work created for the occasion. The work is based on a sequoia tree that connects Ordrupgaard and the artist's personal history. Years ago, a mighty sequoia tree stood in Ordrupgaard's garden, its size an impressive sight in the garden. Berner has been in the museum's archives and has taken a closer look at some of the preserved records from one of the museum's founders, Henny Hansen, who was a driving force in establishing the garden that is today Ordrupgaard Art Park. From here, Berner draws historical knowledge, which in this year's greenhouse exhibition is placed in both a personal and contemporary perspective.

Camilla Berner (b. 1972) has in recent years made her mark with a number of works that focus on the relationship between nature and culture, between the local and global. Most recently, Camilla Berner was awarded the Bikuben Foundation's Vision Award.

THE GREENHOUSE EXHIBITIONS:

Ordrupgaard's greenhouse was inaugurated in 2023 as an exhibition space for contemporary art, which annually provides space for a new contemporary artist who, in dialogue with the park and Ordrupgaard's collections, creates a temporary work for the site. The greenhouse dates from 1921 and was originally part of a large greenhouse complex that included grapes and peaches. After Ordrupgaard became a state museum, the house lay dormant, but in the 1980s it was brought into play in new ways with contributions from current contemporary artists.

With the desire to re-establish the greenhouse as a central and active part of Ordrupgaard, the house has been thoroughly renovated and now stands in its original location in the fruit garden in the eastern part of the park, close to Finn Juhl's house.
