Henrik Vibskov: The exhibition

For more than 25 years, the acclaimed Danish designer and artist Henrik Vibskov has shaped and developed his very own peculiar, captivating universe, where music, scenography, costumes, installations, and fashion constantly intersect and fertilize each other in surprising and exploratory ways. In September, Vibskov will take over Designmuseum Danmark with a large, sensory exhibition that takes visitors on an adventurous journey through the designer's universe.

Henrik Vibskov's unique working method is the focal point of this large, visionary, and sensory special exhibition. Experience a wealth of different works and experiences – from tiny models of installations to 44 showcases with objects, prototypes, and works from Vibskov's studio, to large walk-through installations. The exhibition shows how Vibskov's approach to play, improvisation, and collaboration creates space for an endless flow of creativity. It is a journey into a branching, wild-growing universe – mysterious, humorous, surprising, and touching. A universe where mistakes are gold, and beauty arises amidst chaos.

Henrik Vibskov works at the intersection of art and design. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2001, he has created more than 50 fashion collections and exhibited at international design fairs, festivals, and museums worldwide – including MoMA in New York and Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Alongside his studio work, he is a professor at Designskolen Kolding, and participates in jury work and lectures at institutions such as Central Saint Martins in London and Parsons School of Design in New York. In addition to the semi-annual fashion collections, he has designed costumes for a large number of operas and performing arts productions. Most recently, he created the costumes for the ballet Hammer by Alexander Ekman at GöteborgsOperan in Sweden. Throughout his career, Henrik Vibskov has received numerous awards, including the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize, the Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal, and the Royal Couple's Culture Prize. In 2025, he received a lifelong honorary grant from the Danish Arts Foundation. As a musician, Henrik Vibskov is active as a drummer. He has played with Hess Is More, Mikael Simpson, and Trentemøller, among others.
