Permanent Exhibition

The centerpiece of the current exhibition is a marble basin, originally laid out in the garden area of the Atriumhaus.

The central part of the exhibition is dominated by thematically arranged display cases with finds from Aguntum, often supplemented by replicas from other excavation sites, to present as comprehensive a picture as possible of the culture and civilization of the Roman era in the Alps. These showcases house finds from various areas such as: imported and locally produced ceramics, amphorae, jewelry, fibulae, lamps, coins, a large male bronze reconstructed from fragments, tools and implements, building components, mosaics, wall paintings, and more.

Life-size mannequins at the beginning of the museum exemplify the clothing of the Roman and local population of that time.

The Roman kitchen recreated in the museum reflects an important part of daily Roman life. The finds and reconstructions are complemented by various models. These show, for example, the parts of Aguntum excavated so far, as well as the functioning of Roman underfloor heating, or the functioning of ancient cranes in Roman construction.

With VR glasses, a three-dimensional insight into the reconstructed daily life of the Romans in Aguntum can be provided.
