Please do not forget to visit Louisiana's Concert Hall, a beautiful and harmonious space where two important and monumental key works from Louisiana's collection are on permanent display.
The acquisition of his 2 x 7.5 metre Grand Canyon painting from 1998 placed David Hockney (1937-2026) at the very centre of Louisiana’s collection and immediately became a favourite among museum visitors. As an artist David Hockney is rooted in pop art but he is also associated with the classical tradition of painting – referencing Picasso, Matisse, the human being, space, and landscape.
Michel Majerus absorbed and processed the images surrounding him by combining traditional painting with digital production techniques, creating a unique visual language. In his short life, Michel Majerus (1967-2002) produced more than 2000 works, many of which are large-scale, just as the one currently on show in the Concert Hall. Be sure to see it in person during your next visit.
Today, the hall is the setting for many of the museum’s events — classical concerts, LIVE evenings, literature festival talks, and exhibition lectures.
