Coming Soon – The Beauty and Mystery of Still Life

This exhibition aims to present the phenomenon of still life through painting, drawing, printmaking and photography, above all the great diversity and broad scope of this genre. Visitors will see that still lifes are not merely obligatory flowers in a vase or fruit on a plate, but that the possibilities for choosing objects for compositions are almost inexhaustible. As in previous exhibitions, the exhibits are arranged thematically rather than chronologically or by author. This offers much greater scope for comparing a single theme through the prism of different artistic techniques and styles.

A large part of the exhibition consists of works from the collections of the Regional Museum in Kolín and its branch in Český Brod. The installation has, however, been significantly enriched by loans from other collecting and educational institutions as well as from private individuals.

More than half of the works on display are by artists with ties to Kolín or the wider Kolín region, thus presenting the regional art scene from the 19th century to the present.

The realisation of this exhibition project was financially supported by the City of Kolín.
