The exhibition, authored and curated by Jason Francisco, offers a distinctive complement to the main exhibition at the Galicia Jewish Museum, “Traces of Memory. A Contemporary View of Poland’s Jewish Past,” by Chris Schwarz and Jonathan Webber.
The exhibition is part of the long-term plan of the Galicia Jewish Museum to extend its penetrating and bold view of Jewish heritage across the whole historical region of Galicia, including its eastern part, today in Ukraine.
“Unfinished Memory” invites visitors not only to look but to read the world around us through the lens of Jewish memory. Through evocative photographs and incisive texts, the exhibition explores the continuing presence of Jewish heritage in former Eastern Galicia, the lasting impact of the Holocaust on the social geography of western Ukraine, and the challenges of preserving and commemorating this heritage.
