Jana Šturdíková | 85 Trees

Open today

In this body of work, the artist visually focuses on the trees of a seemingly unusable plot near Bratislava Castle. Through them, she draws attention to what lies behind their felling. She opens up themes of developer projects, bureaucratic processes, the relationship to public green space, and how quickly any land can become a building plot and how fast the surroundings of one's own home can change.

Beneath the surface of the extensive visual documentation of one plot with trees, we learn about the struggle of local residents against a process that circumvents several valid regulations, and about the effort that brings with it much wasted time and many written sheets of paper.

The exhibition is curated by Alena Čechová and Tomáš Pospěch.
