Exhibit: ‘The Sad Ghost Club’: Lize Meddings
About the exhibition
‘The Sad Ghost Club’ is here to make feeling feelings less lonely. Created over 10 years ago by illustrator Lize Meddings, the club centres around the character of a sad ghostie learning to better understand themselves, others and platforming positive mental health awareness in the process. Through comics, zines, and other media, Meddings found her work resonating deeply. Now, there are as many as 560 thousand club members on Instagram alone.
In 2020, ‘The Sad Ghost Club’ became a bestselling international graphic novel series, publishing 5 volumes. The final installment was published this year, in August 2026. As this beloved series comes to an end, The Cartoon Museum hosts a showcase of Medding’s artwork, including original pages from Book 1, and never-before-shared work.
