The exhibition continues in time and theme from the acclaimed 2022 project, which focused on Czech sacred art in the years 1948–1989. The forthcoming exhibition and publication will present and assess artworks, architectural adaptations and new buildings in the Czech church environment since 1990, when a fundamental change in the position of churches in the Czech Republic took place, which was strongly reflected in artistic and construction activity.
The project is based on a curatorial selection of artistically valuable works and architecture from a wide range of realisations that could emerge in the period of freedom without previous restrictions. It will focus on sacred spaces of Christian churches, not only Roman Catholic but also the Czech Brethren Evangelical Church, the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and the Unity of Brethren.
