The WANDERING STONE Exhibition: HOMEWARD BOUND Dům umění in Opava, Church of St. Wenceslas, Galerie Cella, public spaces of the city October 16, 2026 – February 15, 2027 The title of the exhibition suggests much, yet conceals even more. Despite taking place in the thirty-first and thirty-second year of the Bludný kámen association's existence, it is not a look back, a celebration, or a sentimental memory. Although it sometimes glimpses into the past, celebrates a little, and occasionally reminisces. Above all, however, it is a variable, surprising, and contemporary exhibition. It subtly disrupts established rules and ingrained ideas about what an exhibition should look and feel like. Visitors will find themselves at the center of reflections on exhibiting, at a performance show, in an archive, or a tea house, which for several years was the starting point of the Bludný kámen association. They observe how drawings, paintings, objects, installations, and videos follow one another in a chain of individual curatorial decisions, listen to sounds, observe unforeseen movement, and newly experience public space. The exhibition takes place throughout Dům umění, in the Church of St. Wenceslas, in Galerie Cella, and in the adjacent streets of Opava. In addition to more than forty contemporary Czech and international artists, performers, and creators working with sound and video, about thirty affiliated curators are also actively involved in the exhibition. These curators not only contribute to the exhibition through their selection of works, but also co-create the program of concerts, performances, literary readings, and other events that will take place during its run.
