Exhibition of paintings created by people with intellectual disabilities

I SEE THE WORLD DIFFERENTLY – AND THAT’S OKAY

This year marks the fifth time that Museum Kampa will host an exhibition of paintings by people with intellectual disabilities.

The works were created by people with intellectual disabilities from across the Czech Republic and Slovakia as part of the visual arts competition of the same name. 111 of the most impressive paintings were selected for the exhibition. The goal of the project Anyone Can Be an Artist is inclusion through art – to bring the world of people with intellectual disabilities closer to the wider public, to highlight their work, and to motivate the artists to continue their artistic endeavors.

This year’s exhibition will be a selling exhibition for the first time. Visitors will thus have the opportunity not only to discover the distinctive perspectives of individual artists but also to purchase some of their works. The entire proceeds from the sale of a painting go directly to its author. Sold works will be handed over after the exhibition closes.

Admission is free.

The exhibition Anyone Can Be an Artist is held under the auspices of the Deputy Mayor of Prague, Alexandra Udženija, the Mayor of Prague 1, Terezie Radoměřská, and the Mayor of Prague 4, Ondřej Kubín, and with the support of the Jan and Meda Mládek Foundation – Museum Kampa and the Krystyna Pyszková Endowment Fund. The media partner is Czech Radio.

The organizer of the project Anyone Can Be an Artist is the Nadační fond Domova Sulická.

Perhaps it is time to stop emphasizing what distinguishes us and to perceive more what connects us.
