About the exhibition

· Show original

In individual rooms of the exhibition, haptic tables have been installed with objects thematically linked to the displayed collection items in the exhibition. Visitors can freely touch them and thereby better imagine the materials, structures and scents associated with traditional folk culture.

The trail cross-cuts and complements all thematic sections of the permanent exhibition. Through touch and smell, visitors can become acquainted with materials, raw resources and objects related to everyday life, folk crafts, agriculture and the traditional customs of the Czech, Moravian and Silesian countryside.

The trail includes, for example, products made of wood, leather, wicker, metal, wax and paper, samples of ceramic and glass products, textiles and other natural materials used in folk crafts, households and farming, as well as in annual customs and folk ceremonies.

Part of the trail is also a scent line, which gives visitors aromas that enhance the presented themes, from trees and herbs to spices, resins and other natural materials. The selection and expert preparation of the scents was provided by Markéta Filipová, who has long worked with scents in museum environments.

All objects are labelled not only with standard text descriptions in Czech and English, but also with Braille labels, which makes the exhibition accessible to visitors with visual impairments and contributes to its greater openness and inclusivity.

The haptic trail naturally extends the experience of visiting the permanent exhibition and offers visitors the opportunity to explore traditional folk culture through multiple senses.
