Christine Nöstlinger (1936–2018) was the pioneer of a new, anti-authoritarian movement in Austrian children's and young adult literature in the 1970s. To this day, her works remain as relevant as ever. The focus is often on outsiders who challenge the prevailing power structures and traditional role models.
