HOPE

Maryam Kouhestani

Opens in 18 days

As part of Vienna Art Week 2026, the HGM presents the Austrian premiere of HOPE, a short film by Iranian filmmaker Maryam Kouhestani, from 6 November.

The poetic work by artist Maryam Kouhestani is devoted to the struggle of Iranian women for freedom. They wage it without weapons, individually and in solidarity at the same time. The work reflects the idea that space for hope always opens up as long as people strive to keep moving and to get back up after a fall. For the artist, it is the strength and persistence on the path that embody the essence of life.

The film was made in the desert of Abuzeydabad near the city of Kashan in Iran. In Austria, it has its premiere in 2026 as part of Vienna Art Week and at the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum.

Runs from 6 to 13 November 2026; the installation in the Feldherrenhalle is freely accessible during museum opening hours. A valid museum ticket is required to visit the exhibitions.
