Jenna Sutela

Dec 3, 2027 – Feb 27, 2028

Jenna Sutela creates “living sculptures” as well as audio and video works that explore open – relational, infinite – systems in biology, computer science, and language. Her artistic practice is a continuation of her long-standing engagement with parallel forms of perception, communication, and intelligence, both human and otherwise.

Sutela frequently experiments with elements of chance or evolving structures. She searches for patterns, signs, and meanings in what could generally be considered random or chaotic, thereby examining the role of media such as microscopes and telescopes in shaping our understanding of reality.

Her work addresses scientific research not as a static fact but as a form of inquiry that is speculative, philosophical, and sociopolitical. She repeatedly returns to specific themes: decentralized organization, the continuity between physical and informational processes, and an ecological understanding of existence as fundamentally interconnected – with each other and with a planet that is not our own.
