UNDERGROUND ROUTE

Permanent

The underground tour route is a several-hundred-metre section linking the stone haulage gallery that carried rock to the surrounding spoil heaps with a training adit, where aspiring mining apprentices once practised the proficient use of breathing apparatus for escape. Guides present collections of mining tools and machinery, analyse information boards and draw visitors' attention to geology and deposit exploitation systems, including rock mechanics, roadway support structures, driving and maintaining galleries, longwall face extraction, rock blasting with explosives, mine ventilation and drainage, underground hazards, and mine surveying, underground transport, as well as machine systems in mining.
