3rd floor of building 14, Baťa Principle exposition

curator: Michal Heinrich

September 24, 2026 - January 17, 2027

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the world-renowned shoemaker Tomáš Baťa, students of the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště, from the Shoe and Fashion Accessories Design department, have prepared an exhibition of their annual works.

In their designs, they strived to preserve the values that Tomáš Baťa promoted, while also responding to the needs of the contemporary world. All exhibited works are united by the current theme of ecology in footwear design and production. There are many approaches to sustainable design – from the use of ecologically processed vegetable-tanned leathers to technologies with lower adhesive consumption in strobel or flexible stitching, to structural solutions enabling easy disassembly of the product, for example, thanks to a removable sole. Attention is also paid to the use of residual materials from production and timeless design that extends the life of products.

Ecodesign thus becomes a natural and indispensable part of the design process for young footwear designers.
