Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten

The Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten (MMKK) is Carinthia's state museum for modern and contemporary art, housed in the Klagenfurt Burg, a building erected in 1586 that held the Kärntner Landesgalerie from 1933. It opened under its present name in 2003, after a rebuild by the architects Helmut Dominikus and Ralf Mikula, and shows three to four changing solo and thematic exhibitions a year in fourteen rooms totalling about 1,000 m², plus projects in the Kunstraum Burgkapelle. It also cares for the art collection of the province of Carinthia, with works by Kiki Kogelnik, Maria Lassnig and Arnulf Rainer.
