Dům umění

Dům umění is the main exhibition hall of Opava, housed in a former Dominican monastery that was saved from demolition and rebuilt as a cultural venue to a design by architect Leopold Plavec, opening in 1974. Since 2011 it has been run by the Opavská kulturní organizace (OKO) together with the adjoining deconsecrated church of St Wenceslas. Its programme is devoted to contemporary visual art: solo shows by established artists, thematic curated exhibitions, presentations of art-school studios, symposia and accompanying education programmes.
