À propos de l’exposition
The exhibition “Bunkers in Nowa Huta – Legacy of the Cold War” located at os. Szkolny 22 is the main permanent exhibition of Podziemna Nowa Huta.
The exhibition spaces occupy the ground floor of the building as well as the original interior of an air-raid shelter built here in the 1950s.
The exhibition presents historical context for the construction of the shelters, related to the Cold War and the building of Nowa Huta. A considerable part of the display is devoted to the shelters themselves: the history of their construction during the PRL period, their structure, and the specifics of the shelters in Nowa Huta. The narrative also refers to contemporary threats and security issues. There are elements that engage visitors, drawing on their personal experiences, knowledge and emotions. The exhibition includes a tour route for children concerning safety in everyday situations.
We encourage you to begin your visit to Podziemna Nowa Huta with the main exhibition “Bunkers in Nowa Huta – Legacy of the Cold War” at os. Szkolny 22, and then to visit the exhibition “State of Threat” at os. Szkolny 37.
