KLAUS KADA "NUANCES AND ATMOSPHERES - AN ŒUVRE, IN FRAGMENTS…"

This exhibition is not a mere presentation of [building] works in the sense of a classic retrospective. It aims to open up an [un]usual view of the architecture of Klaus Kada: beyond the visible surface, into the depths of his architectural and artistic thinking. Architecture is presented not as a finished and complete object, but as something provisional, fragile and processual – in facets, nuances and atmospheres that show how his works oscillate between the concrete and the poetic. It appears as thought, as perception, as an experiment with material, light, transparency, colour and form.

The free as well as applied artistic [secondary] productions unfold between art and architecture – they become a resonance space: What would happen if the [architectural] form broke into fragments, hints remained, and the idea itself became the material? This exhibition opens up such intermediate and thought spaces.

At the centre is not the completed [building] work in its entirety, but the fragmentation of the intellectual, artistic, architectural and sensual process. What becomes visible is the becoming – as a snapshot or fragment of emergence – not what has become, with its claim to wholeness. Klaus Kada's approach of thought connects different spheres and makes it experiential how architecture could be conceived, developed and experienced/understood as an artistic medium.

[Spatial] installations, [picture] works, models – static as well as moving sequences made of individual [snapshot] recordings, and materialised slides create a space of the imaginary, in which matter and imagination, shadow and reflection, structure and openness, solidity and fragility come together both in their singularity and in a delicate dialogue. The exhibition content becomes a resonance space for perception and thought: perceptible and experienceable not as a finished [building] work, but as an expression of his intellectual attitude, his approach of thought and the [creative] process, whose reflection takes place in the respective artistic-architectural context – presented and exhibited for the first time in fragments, nuances and atmospheres.

Klaus Kada says: "Roughly... already close."
