The Most Industrious Czech Man
À propos de l’exposition
On 15 January of this year, one hundred years had passed since the death of Prof. August Sedláček, a significant figure in Czech historical scholarship. A native of Mladá Vožice in the Tábor region (1843), he matriculated in Písek (1863) and, after university studies, worked as a secondary school professor in Litomyšl, Rychnov nad Kněžnou and especially in Tábor. He returned to Písek in retirement, where he became municipal archivist and director of the museum. The lifelong work of Sedláček is the fifteen-volume History of Castles, Chateaux and Fortresses of the Kingdom of Bohemia. His historical works exceed 200 titles.
The incredible life story of this personality is presented by the exhibition at the Prácheňské muzeum in Písek.
