Welterbemuseum Hallstatt

The Welterbemuseum Hallstatt in Upper Austria presents 7,000 years of local history, from the Neolithic through the Iron Age to the present day. Its core holdings are finds from the world's oldest salt mine and from the Hallstatt burial ground, so significant that an entire archaeological period — the Hallstatt culture, roughly 800–450 BC — was named after the site. Run by the local Musealverein, the museum has occupied the former parsonage since 2002 and combines original objects with virtual reconstructions.
