Klimt Villa

The Klimt Villa in Vienna's Hietzing district stands on the site of Gustav Klimt's last studio, where the painter worked from 1911 until his death in 1918. The villa around it was built in the early 1920s, enclosing the original single-storey studio building; the name came into use in the 1990s during the campaign to save the derelict house. Restored and open to the public, it shows a permanent exhibition on the reconstructed studio and on Klimt works that were lost, looted or restituted.
