Polina Davydenko's exhibition continues the exhibition block dedicated to photography in the Šímova síň space and brings a strong educational dimension associated with media literacy. The artist has long reflected on the topic of the Russian-Ukrainian war, to which she returns from the perspective of both a reporter and an artist. Although she has lived in the Czech Republic since childhood, she regularly visits her hometown of Dobropillia in Donbas and observes its changes.
In her work, she uses the language of media and the issue of depersonalization in news reporting: she transfers images from phone and computer screens into three-dimensional objects, models, and mock-ups, thereby “materializing” the world of news. At the same time, her activities support Ukrainian artists directly involved in the war, giving her work an exceptionally current and engaged character.
Polina was born in Ukraine but has lived in the Czech Republic since childhood. She studied in the Studio of Photography of Ivar Gravlejs at FaVU VUT in Brno. She continued her studies at KASK in Ghent, at FAMU in Prague, and in the Studio of Environment at FaVU.
