Permanent Exhibition Vita Christi

The permanent exhibition Vita Christi – The Life of Christ tells the story of the life of Jesus Christ, whom his contemporaries called the Nazarene. More than forty paintings, sculptures, and liturgical objects from the 13th to the 19th centuries represent the rich artistic heritage of the Brno diocese. In addition to well-known medieval masterpieces, some works are exhibited publicly for the first time. Thanks to the accompanying biblical quotations, visitors are drawn to the underlying ideas and inspirational sources. Alongside famous medieval treasures, some works are on public display for the first time. The permanent exhibition includes, in addition to the painting of the Madonna of Veveří from the workshop of the Master of the Vyšší Brod Altar from after 1340, the oldest statue of the Madonna in Moravia – the Madonna of Klobouky from the early 13th century. Also installed here is an author's copy of Veraikon, a painting by the symbolist Gabriel Max from 1874.
