Erik Hällman primarily works with materials that have been discarded by others. Found, collected, old, new, artificial, organic, cheap, luxurious, handmade, and mass-produced things make up Hällman’s sculptural arrangements, revealing material realities in which conflicting juxtapositions and uniform surfaces prevail. Through intricate accumulations of surplus objects, he investigates and negotiates the familiar and the uncanny. Hällman (b. 1987 in Hedemora, Sweden) graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2020 and studied theoretical philosophy at Stockholm University. His exhibitions include presentations at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Jennifee-See Alternate, Kunsthal Augustiana, and Konstepidemin, Gothenburg.
