Step into a spherical landscape with works created by textile and clothing artist Nikoline Liv Andersen in an exhibition that tells the story of life. The works engage in a dialogue with selected objects from Designmuseum Danmark's rich collection.
Nikoline Liv Andersen's works revolve around the changing phases of life, which constantly bring new challenges and experiences, about the cycle of life from infatuation and fertility to the first small sprout, to autumn and inevitable decay. Through imaginative narratives, Nikoline Liv Andersen projects these themes into fabulous embroidered images. In her universe, nature is always present. Humans are nature, even if, according to Nikoline Liv Andersen, we tend to forget it in our modern existence.
With time-consuming techniques and work with textile and thread, Nikoline Liv Andersen's works are a tribute to craftsmanship and an ongoing exploration of life, modern motherhood, and transience.
In the exhibition, visitors enter an installation where light and almost floating textiles, embroidered and painted, envelop the audience in a unified landscape. Here, stories of human life from beginning to end are told. The same themes are rediscovered in Nikoline Liv Andersen's selection of objects from Designmuseum Danmark's large collection.
The exhibition is supported by Jørgen Krygers and Anne Ammitzbølls Fond. Designmuseum Danmark also thanks the Lagerkvist family for permission to use the title of Pär Lagerkvist's novel Det evige smil. Thanks to Ege Carpets.
