Józef Wybicki went down in history as the author of the Dąbrowski Mazurka – the song that became our national anthem. The exhibition presents his figure comprehensively against the backdrop of the fate of Poland and Europe. Wybicki is shown not only as a poet, but also as a politician, lawyer, general, and innovator, and above all as an ardent patriot. The exhibition is located in the oldest part of Dwór Wybickiego (Wybicki's Manor) (here, in 1747, the author of the anthem was born). Old furniture and numerous souvenirs testifying to the history of this building are presented in the historic interiors. A facsimile of the manuscript of the Song of the Polish Legions in Italy is displayed in a place of honor. The original manuscript was lost during World War II; today, it is probably located in Russia. Among the most valuable and interesting objects are: decorations – the contemporary Order of the White Eagle and the Order of the Legion of Honor 1852–1870, a portrait of Prince Józef Poniatowski, letters of Józef Wybicki, and a collection of patriotic songbooks. The exhibits come from the collections of the National Anthem Museum and from the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the National Museum in Warsaw, and the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw.
