In 2026, the museum will celebrate its 20th anniversary.

This anniversary is an occasion for a comprehensive presentation of Gugging art across the entire exhibition space of the museum and forms the focus of the anniversary year.

The exhibition focuses on 20 Gugging artists, with the work of August Walla and Johann Hauser being particularly prominent in the exhibition. August Walla would have celebrated his 90th birthday in 2026, and Johann Hauser his 100th. In addition, the 40th anniversary of the "Haus der Künstler" will be a theme.

The anniversary will also be an opportunity to establish the museum as a driving force for transparency and openness at the Gugging site. Inclusive museum work will be given high priority.

The Gugging Artists and their works are fixed stars of contemporary Austrian art with international appeal. Since the post-war period, artworks have been created in Gugging that the founder of Art Brut, Jean Dubuffet, attributed to it.
