St. Bartholomew's Church in Photography and Fine Art. Sudek. Funke. Parléř.

The exhibition presents a significant national cultural monument – St. Bartholomew's Church – through works of art. Approximately half of these will be photographs, including those by authors associated with Kolín, Josef Sudek and Jaromír Funke. However, there will also be paintings and other artifacts, such as several fragments of original Parléř-style tracery from the church windows.

We aim to introduce visitors to the rich collection of our museum, in which various depictions of the church are numerous, and at the same time remind them that all important artists associated with Kolín felt the need to engage with its panorama. In addition to photographs by Josef Sudek and Jaromír Funke, the museum also draws attention to contemporary names. For example, a photograph of the church interior by contemporary Czech photographer René Hrala was chosen by the authors as the central motif of the exhibition.

A large collection of paintings will also be presented, for example, oil paintings, graphic sheets, drawings and prints, or a part of the original Parléř-style tracery from the windows removed from the church, probably by architect Josef Mocker.

Several works were also borrowed from other places. Cooperation with the Roman Catholic Parish Kolín and P. Ján Halama was particularly important. The designs for the stained glass windows for the church, which were partly realized around 1900, partly are works from the 19th century, and then mainly new installations from the 1960s, have been preserved as so-called drawing cartoons. They are still stored in the Prague stained glass workshop Jiřička – Coufal, which produced them. These cartoons, like a large part of other items from the upcoming exhibition, have not yet been exhibited.

The exhibition, which gathers more than one hundred works of art, should inspire visitors to visit the church located directly opposite the Červinkovský dům.
