ALL WE EVER WANTED | Liberec Exhibition Fairs 1960–1980

In 2026, the Liberec Exhibition Fairs celebrate seventy years since the first edition of their modern history, and MUZA The North Bohemian Museum revives the phenomenon of LVT through an exhibition featuring posters, printed materials, period photographs, and a whole host of other original artifacts associated with this event.

The exhibition focuses on the 1960s and 1970s – an era in which the Liberec Fairs broke attendance records and the biggest stars of contemporary show business shone on its stages. It offers numerous examples of textile work, period clothing, and home furnishings that were on display at the exhibition grounds, with historical exhibits from the museum supplemented in part by items purchased directly at LVT. Are you interested in how the exhibition grounds were created, who designed its pavilions, and why the architecture of the Liberec Exhibition Fairs was among the most progressive projects of its time? This is the focus of a new section of the exhibition titled Architecture of the Liberec Exhibition Fairs, somewhat unconventionally located in BG Klub Liberec, which is housed in the former LVT pavilion "F" by architect Miroslav Masák (opposite the museum).

LVT presented excellent products or prototypes from significant domestic manufacturers and at the same time allowed for their purchase or at least ordering. However, the offer usually failed to meet the enormous customer demand, and many of the exhibited products were intended for export only. In addition to the production of the most important textile and clothing factories, glass, costume jewelry, and home culture were also on display. The exhibition also reflects other product areas such as electric kitchen appliances, porcelain, plastic household products, clothing accessories, and more.

An integral part of LVT was a rich accompanying program, and our exhibition cannot overlook this phenomenon. Musical performances by leading singers and musicians of the contemporary cultural scene, as well as fashion shows and "live" product demonstrations, completed the image of LVT as one of the most significant national events of the summer season, which in its heyday was visited by hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic visitors.
