Humans are naturally surrounded by the environment in which they live. It can be assumed that the quality and character of the surroundings play an important role in the development of one's personality, their cultivation, and the creation of their cultural background, which ultimately has a substantial impact on the level of the entire society.
The photographs in our exhibition focus on capturing unusual portraits of people living today in Prague's Podolí district, and especially their natural living space, the urban landscape of Podolí. The landscape forms the backdrop, but at the same time, it is a significant part of the lives of the district's inhabitants. From the perspective of time, it can be perceived as much more substantial and enduring than the existence of a particular person within it. Behind the figures overexposed by flash light, one can imagine almost anyone...
Jan Dytrych (1980) primarily deals with personal and social themes in his photography. He most often processes these through subjective documentary, staged photography, or intermedia art. He studied at the Institute of Creative Photography of the Silesian University in Opava. In addition to photography, he also engages in creative writing; his texts have been featured on the website nedelnichvilkapoezie.cz and at the Smetanova poetická Litomyšl festival.
