Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah: Residual Sky - Under Contamination

Autograph is developing the first major solo exhibition by visual artist Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah. Residual Sky will explore rupture and repair as strategies for examining how images construct, fragment and withhold histories shaped by colonialism and diaspora.

Large-scale handprints are envisaged as vertical, totemic forms. At scale, the works explore the relationship between body, image and space, foregrounding the physicality of the photographic surface. Adu-Sayah’s practice engages with the ramifications of archival violence, material processes and the conditions through which images produce – and withhold – historical knowledge.
