Mohammed Qasim Ashfaq: Drawing in the Dark
About the exhibition
This Spring, Mohammed Qasim Ashfaq will present a new series of work in the Museum’s Foyle Space, a result of his time as Jerwood Artist in Residence at Sir John Soane’s Museum in 2025.
Born in Falkirk, Scotland, Mohammed Qasim Ashfaq is a visual artist whose work is fundamentally rooted in drawing and is particularly known for his monumental graphite works - painstakingly rendered by hand. Inspired by the careful and intentional placement of artworks across the Museum spaces, Ashfaq has produced a series of detailed graphite drawings that explore architectural intricacies among Soane’s collection, weaving together many objects into unique geometric compositions.
We are grateful to Jerwood Foundation for supporting the Jerwood Artist in Residence Programme.
