P.S. KRØYER: 'FROM THE COPENHAGEN STOCK EXCHANGE'

Jun 26 – Aug 30, 2026

While the reconstruction of Børsen is in full swing, Dansk Erhverv, in collaboration with Kunst På Arbejde, is sending one of Børsen's most iconic artworks on a Denmark tour. This concerns P.S. Krøyer's monumental painting Fra Københavns Børs (1895) – a masterpiece in Danish art and business history.

The painting was originally created for Børsen and hung there for more than 125 years – until April 16, 2024, when the tragic fire struck Børsen, and the large painting was saved at the last moment.

The painting depicts 50 of the leading Danish business and financiers of the time in the grand hall of Børsen. The men's placement reflects the social and economic hierarchy of the era. The most wealthy and influential individuals are positioned centrally in the image – including the powerful merchant C.F. Tietgen (1829-1901), born in Odense, who stands at the golden ratio, facing the viewer as the only one in the painting.

Before the work returns to the reconstructed Børsen in 2029, it embarks on a journey across the country. The tour begins at Kunstmuseum Brandts, where one gets a rare opportunity to experience the painting up close.

In the autumn, the work will travel on to ARoS and Fuglsang Kunstmuseum.
