The exhibition, located in the exhibition hall in the attic of the capitular deanery, tells the story of one of the few places in Central Europe from which our ancestors continuously determined and changed the course of human society, education, and culture. It traces the rich and impressive history of Svatováclavský vrch (St. Wenceslas Hill) from the oldest prehistoric settlement to the present.
Bronze models, created based on the latest scientific knowledge, depict the appearance of the hill in selected historical periods. Dominating among the exhibits are rare archaeological finds, architectural elements, and fragments of decoration from former buildings, which were uncovered during archaeological excavations and architectural-historical surveys. Modern history is illustrated by period vedutas and selected architectural plans and studies documenting the transformation of the appearance of St. Wenceslas Cathedral and proposals for making Bishop Jindřich Zdík's Romanesque palace accessible.
The exhibition is enriched with a number of interactive elements, including virtual-game visualizations, with the help of which visitors can walk through the history of this remarkable place almost like an eyewitness.
