Technology at the Post Office, or the Postal Museum as part of the National Technical Museum

The new exhibition, located on the ground floor of Vávra's Mill, presents the interconnected history of postal services, telecommunications, and technical development in the Czech lands. Visitors will learn about the beginnings of radio broadcasting, the history of postage stamps and their production, the development of the telegraph and telephone, and the transformations of postal transport from stagecoaches to airmail. The exhibition also includes themes of postal architecture and significant technical innovations that fundamentally influenced the communication of modern society.

On display are, for example, the first commercially available Siemens telephones, Archduke Franz Ferdinand D'Este's personal telephone from Konopiště Castle, some of the oldest preserved spark telegraph transmitters, various plaster models of not only postal buildings – such as the model of the Postal Cheque Office in Prague on Wenceslas Square by František Roith, or models of transport vehicles demonstrating the evolution of mail delivery.
