About the exhibition

· Show original

37 women from public life, art, culture, media, sports and society have been portrayed since 2024 by Iris and Erik Diewald-Hagen as part of their project HEADSHOT, an art project about femicide in Austria, using the historic wet collodion process on glass. Each of them stands in for one or more women who have fallen victim to femicide in Austria since 2022.

After the exposure, each glass plate was deliberately altered, in some cases destroyed, and placed in direct relation to the documented murder weapon or means of killing. The violence physically inscribes itself into the image. Every work is a handmade unique piece: singular, non-reproducible, fragile.

With portraits of, among others, Proschat Madani, Stefanie Reinsperger, Barbara Karlich, Irmgard Griss, Katharina Straßer, Lilian Klebow, Michaela Kirchgasser and Teresa Vogl. HEADSHOT remembers the people behind the numbers: daughters, mothers, sisters, friends and colleagues.

In cooperation with RISE! Women's Voices for Change. Partner organizations Verein StoP-Stadtteile ohne Partnergewalt and Männernotruf. With the kind support of Land Oberösterreich, Linz AG, Raiffeisen Eferding, Wien Holding, and Wolf Klima- und Heiztechnik.

Note: The exhibition contains depictions of violence. Recommended for visitors aged 16 and up.
