International Day of the Girl

Ends in 14 days

We invite you to see a photographic exhibition presenting the stories of girls and young women who are creating safer and more inclusive public spaces.

The exhibition consists of 30 photographs documenting activities undertaken by girls and young women in cooperation with the Plan International Poland Foundation. They show how, through shared commitment, it is possible to create spaces where every person can feel safe, free and able to be themselves.

The photographs not only depict the experiences of their protagonists, but also highlight their role as active co-creators of solutions concerning the space around them. It is a story of agency, commitment and the right to co-decide on matters that affect everyday life.

International Day of the Girl - voice, rights and agency

International Day of the Girl, celebrated each year on 11 October, was established by the United Nations in 2011. The Plan International Foundation played a key role in the efforts that led to its establishment. Since then, the day has been an occasion to promote girls' rights, gender equality, and the strengthening of the voice and agency of young women.

On this occasion, social organisations, public institutions, UN agencies and local communities around the world organise initiatives that remind us how important it is to take the perspective of girls into account and to ensure they have a real influence on decisions concerning their lives and futures.

The Plan International Poland Foundation exhibition fits into these efforts, showing that girls and young women are not merely recipients of change - they initiate and co-create it.

The exhibition can be viewed at the northern entrance to Łazienki Królewskie from ul. Agrykola.
