The TRAGEDY AT PLOŠTINA Exhibition

On the site of the former amphitheater built during the normalization period, a modern exhibition building was erected in 2022, exceptional for its technical solution. The oval object is submerged into the sloping meadow hillside to minimally disturb the surrounding landscape.

The visitor center with an interactive audiovisual exhibition Tragedy at Ploština introduces visitors to the history and way of life of the Wallachian mountaineers. The narrative continues to the unfortunate turning point in the form of events from April 19, 1945, when Nazi armed forces struck against the local base of the partisan unit. The unexpected attack led to the burning of the core of the mountaineer settlement and the killing of 28 people, not only directly from Ploština and nearby Ryliska but also from surrounding villages.

A catalog Ploština - a place with memory with a wealth of textual and visual material has been published for the exhibitions. It can be purchased at the visitor center's ticket office for CZK 50.
