Exposition "František Bartoš: Educator, Linguist, Ethnographer"

Here, young and old visitors can complete folk weather proverbs in a replica calendar from the end of the 19th century, or play with the correct wording of proverbs or dialect expressions. The exhibition is complemented by a wooden puppet theatre, memory game, and wooden blocks.

František Bartoš (1837-1906) was a native of Zlín - Mladcová, who became a significant figure in Moravian education and culture in the second half of the 19th century, an organizer of scientific and national life in Moravia. He also compiled the only comprehensive Moravian dialectological dictionary to date.

Since 1992, our museum has also housed the František Bartoš Study and Documentation Centre, whose spiritual father and founder was ethnographer Karel Pavlištík. Thanks to the centre's work, a separate exhibition dedicated to Bartoš could be created on the 5th floor of Building 14.

It offers a closer look at his professional and private life, but its main essence is to present František Bartoš's work and research in a playful way. Interactive elements gently draw visitors, both large and small, into the world of rhymes, proverbs, folk riddles, and dialects.
