NOVÁ PLOŠTINA Exposition

The exposition is located in farmhouse no. 23 (newly assigned no. 166), which is one of those built for the survivors of the Ploština tragedy. The local museum exposition focuses on the history of the Ploština settlement from 1945 to the present day.

The living rooms in the front part of the house are furnished as they might have looked during the first decades after its construction in 1947. In the rear part of the building, where the farm facilities, i.e., cattle sheds, were originally located, visitors will learn about the phenomenon of Ploština as a memorial. The exposition uses the example of the place to recall the changes in society's relationship to piety and the commemoration of the fallen, including the historical context and the violent ideologization after the communist coup. The conclusion is dedicated to efforts to rehabilitate the memorial site after 1989. The reconstructed premises are used for organizing exhibitions, animation and educational programs for schools, including occasional seminars and conferences.

The exposition contentually complements the nearby TRAGÉDIE NA PLOŠTINĚ exposition.
