The exhibition presents the poppy as an ancient cultural plant and explores its varieties, cultivation and use in the past and present. The theme is complemented by decorations and paintings by artist Marcela Šimečková made entirely from poppy. Three-dimensional objects from the museum's collections are also on display, recalling the cultivation and processing of poppy in history or its use in symbolism on textile and ceramic decorations.
The opening will take place in the presence of M. Šimečková as part of the (H)radovánky event on 16. 5. 2026 at 14.00.

SUCH A POPPY SUMMER | workshop Saturday 20. 6. 2026 | 14.00-17.00 lodge of Malenovice Castle
Welcome the arriving summer with an ancient magical plant. Our inspiration will be the poppy paintings and decorations of artist Marcela Šimečková. We will explore the flavours of different poppy varieties and their effects on health. We will prepare traditional and modern poppy recipes, taste poppy milk and make a summer poppy decoration.
The workshop is led by botanist Petra Hanáková and instructor Adéla Šimová.
