Düsseldorf is a major German art hub, home to the influential Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, which produced major schools of painting and photography. The Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen (K20/K21) displays modern and contemporary art by figures like Picasso and Joseph Beuys, while the Museum Kunstpalast houses works from the medieval period to the present. The city’s diverse landscape also includes the NRW Forum for photography and design and the Kunst im Tunnel (KIT), which exhibits contemporary art in a space beneath the Rhine promenade.
