Please note: the "Art in Your Pocket" exhibition is closed due to technical reasons.
Inspiration for the educational exhibition came from Rozum do kapsy (Common Sense in Your Pocket) – a small pocket encyclopedia that has illuminated the school years of many for over 50 years. Just like these small books, the Art in Your Pocket exhibition aims to provide a selection of fundamental knowledge, information, and skills that every gallery visitor should know about art.
The goal was to create an exhibition that would be inspiring for regular gallery visitors, yet also accessible to those encountering art for the first time. Art in Your Pocket is actually the result of an experiment during which the Moravian Gallery's educators became authors. Their endeavor was to find a common anchor point in the broad spectrum of knowledge and information in the field of visual arts, from which we could jointly embark, deepen our experience of the art around us, and better understand it.
Art in Your Pocket can serve as a guide to the world of art, expanding horizons and strengthening the ability to perceive, appreciate, and understand art. It is also a social experiment that helps us get to know each other better. The exhibition space of the Místodržitelský palác (Governor's Palace) is divided into six chapters that open up themes related to people, things, situations, and circumstances that surround them, directly and indirectly, throughout their lives. Here you will find works spanning periods, artistic styles, and artistic forms. An integral part of the exhibition are informational panels with conceptual cards.
