Open Depository

Permanent

The depository, a place previously perceived as an impregnable vault hidden from public view, is transformed by the Moravian Gallery into an open space where art does not have to hide. For the first time in the Czech Republic, visitors can look inside museum collections. The Moravian Gallery has opened the Open Depository, the first of its kind in the Czech Republic.

The three-story building in the former barracks in Brno-Řečkovice offers a unique insight into extensive collections that you know from exhibitions, but also into works that have never been exhibited. You will discover a collection of Japanese art, historic tin, clocks, toys, furniture, paintings, and many other objects.

Come and peek behind the curtain of museum operations and learn how we care for our collections, how we preserve them, and what all is hidden behind the scenes of the gallery.
